North side of house, showing stair case opening.
South side of room, showing old 'rafters' all over the place. Turns out they weren't doing much, structurally.
West / front window gable. This area was sagging quite a lot. Russell Snyder, (excellent carpenter ! ) is doing the work on this and there's a lot of shoring up and clearing out of extraneous timbers.
Eastern windows, also showing the bogus rafters - the old cieling was really low and claustrophobic, it was attached to these.
All the mess was replaced by two beams Russell put in running from the west gable across to the eastern side of the bldg.
Here is the solution Russell came up with to support that sagging inner corner of the front gable. Two stout 2x8 s running the whole width of the front at the knee wall. He shimmed them up until they were level.
Showing the excellent job of strapping that Russell has done. I really appreciate the pieces he ran arounfd the base o fthe walls, so there will be something solid to nail base boards into. The electrician came in at the end of February, got the wire all run. Now, it's all fuzzy pink stuff up there., as of March 15, Russell says he'll be putting up sheetrock next week !
