Okay, the mask...the main idea I had, going
into the class, is that I wished to make a mask. It would be an object in its own right but also serve as a form upon which I'd be able to make papier mache masks, without using a wire armature.
Rocky warned me that I was jinxing it by spending a great deal of time on it - and indeed, it did develope a crack after the first firing. I had wanted to have one of Rocky's wonderful, deep red glazes added to the black underglaze that you see here, but it was not to be ! I decided not to risk a further firing and will experiment with painting this at a later date. For now, I am enjoying it just the way it is.
